Artist Statement: While undergoing chemo and radiation treatment, I painted small watercolor paintings to pass the time. Although small, and sometimes crude from the severity of treatment, they kept me going. I dreamed of one day painting them large. Two years later I was able to bring that dream to reality. They symbolize the energy and beauty of life when we pause for a minute and take it in.
Artist Bio: Wyanne (pronounced Y-anne) has been a full-time artist for the past 20 years. Her work is in collections all over the world. In late 2013 Wyanne was diagnosed with Stage IV oral cancer. She had never smoked, and was otherwise relatively healthy. She lost her entire tongue and 66 lymph nodes. Speaking clearly has become a challenge. She takes all of her food and drink through a stomach feeding tube, but she is still cancer free. Wyanne considers the cancer a gift, pushing her to find the courage to express herself more honestly and boldly. She doesn’t waste a minute of the time she’s been given, painting full time most every day.
